Our opinion : A jewelry designer and pupil of goldsmith Francois Hugo, Jacques Gautier soon developed an interest in enamel techniques.
In the early '50s, he designed jewelry for the Haute Couture, Dior in particular.
In 1958, he opened a gallery on rue Jacob, near his workshop.
His first clients were Simone de Beauvoir, Max Ernst and Sonia Delaunay.
In the 70s, he broadened his horizons, working in stained glass, enamelled steel, mirrors and glass sculpture, while continuing to create jewelry for private commissions and Haute Couture collections (Nina Ricci in the 90s).
A retrospective of her work, "Bijoux-Lumiere", was held at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, in 1999.
